• About Papa Steve

In these pages I hope to reveal one American’s journey. I’m a professional in my late forties who grew up in conservative America. I’m husband to a beautiful wife, father to three great, adult children, and Papa to four, highly energetic grandsons. I no longer live in the world I grew up in. As I embrace many great aspects of the world of my children and grand children I hope to capture those moments here in these pages with glimpses of the world of my own childhood.

Donna Jo

Below are some video’s and slide shows in memory of our beloved Donna Jo.  She came to be with us on June 25th, 1957.  She said goodbye on September 10th, 2007.  Fortunately for us all it’s just goodbye . . .for now!

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing on September 10th of
Donna Jo Rose after a long illness. Donna was working in the Houston
Office as the Head of Administration for the Southern Region. Her hard
work and dedication was impeccable, and she was greatly admired and
respected by her peers.

Donna Jo joined BNP in 1985 as Assistant Treasurer-Operations Manager.
During her 22 years with the Bank, she touched many lives within BNP and
eventually through the BNP and Paribas merger. During the merger
process, she reached out to all employees and bonded the two groups
together. This was instrumental in completing a very smooth transition
for the Southern Region.

Donna’s enthusiasm always shined through even in the more difficult
times. In fact, it was always difficult to determine these trying times
as she always managed to place a positive spin on the most difficult
situations. Her commitment has been an asset that BNP Paribas will
sorely miss, it is our hope that Donna Jo’s legacy will be to carry that
spirit forward through those in the Bank that she has graced with her
friendship. We will always remember her intelligence, kindness, and
infectious laughter. She was a Texas gal through and true, with a heart
and laugh as big as the State.

We will also remember the grace and dignity Donna has shown in managing
her illness. Her courage and faith have been an inspiration to us all.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Rose family during this time.
Funeral arrangements are:

  2. These are such wonderful pictures and great memories. I remembered you all at Nonnie’s and Papa’s and being that young. It was so good to get to see you all at the reunion and have more wonderful memories. You have such a loving family and I know you will hold each other close. My love, Cathy

  3. These pictures are PRICELESS!!
She was, is, and always be beautiful inside and out…now she is perfect.

    I love you Donna.

  4. Donna, I remember the day you were born. You really protested your birth, but soon calmed down. You then pro-ceeded to become a very very special person in our household. You quickly became “daddy’s girl”. Your laughter and joyful heart was and is so special. Those long ago memories of your childhood are so very precious today. I love you so much! mom

  5. Steve,

I had been hired by DonnaJo when I moved to houston in Sept of 2001. What a great, lovable, caring, sweet and happy person she was. I just saw the slide show and I am in the on the last pictures with her, Katie and Leah. Very special. In only a year I grew a bond with her that I have not had with some former bosses who I have worked with for more than a year. Physically she is not here but spiritually…she will never leave…

  6. Your birth is still fresh in my mind. What a blessing you became to our household and extended family. I will never
forget your laughter and joy. One day we will be together
again when we meet the Lord in the air, and then we shall be like HIM, and see Him as He is! Until then my sweet child, mom

  7. Great pictures. Golden Oldies! We will never forget her and look to another day when we hear her wonderful laugh
once again. Love you so much, mom

  8. Thank you for this lovely tribute. My earliest memory of Donna Jo was when were still very young. Ya’ll were still in California. Donna couldn’t say “Lindy” (a nickname) it came out “Wendy”. We sat on top of the boy’s bunk bed and I tried to coach her into saying it. LLLLLLLLLindy… to which she would reply “Wwwwwwwwwendy”.

I’m sorry we missed the reunion and hope to see you all soon.

And dearest Donna…we will see you “in the morning…”

    Love to all,

    Linda (Seliner) Lowenberg – Cousin
